Workshop Description:
This sturdy journal has two unique features: repurposed cigar boxes for covers and a two needle Coptic stitch binding that dates back to the second century A.D. We will start the class by going over some basic bookbinding terminology and the basics of sewing a coptic binding, working with multiple needles to bind the signatures and the covers together with this unique and sculptural binding.

The instructor supply pre-drilled cigar box covers for the class, and will also explain how to modify the measurements to work for other sized covers. There will be a variety of cigar box covers to choose from for the class.

Instructor Bio:
Richard Pollock-Nelson has been making books since 2012, and lives in the Denver Area. He has been teaching bookbinding workshops in the community for the past 10 years. Richard completed the Bookbinding Core Certification Program at the San Francisco Center for the Book and is currently enrolled in the Fine Binding Program at the American Academy of Bookbinding, located in Telluride, Colorado.
